We have a new family member! Her name is Stella and she is a little gray kitten that Tony found hanging around the shop where he works. Actually he found several kittens. He took two to the Humane Society in Jonesboro and we tried to save the other three that he found. Two of the three didn't make it. They were just so tiny. And even tho Penny and I tried as hard as we could to keep them alive they just didn't pull thru. Yes, you read that last sentence correctly. Penny has turned into quite the little mother. We weren't sure how Penny would react to the kittens. She barks non stop at the black cat across the street. But I guess since these cats were helpless tiny babies, her mothering instinct took over. Even tho she has never had a litter of puppies, Penny nursed the kittens. She was gentle with them - most of the time - and cleaned them and watched over them like a little mother hen. (I actually have some pictures on my camera of them nursing on her. I'll get them up soon.) It's been the craziest thing. Penny and Stella get along really well. Tony is hoping that since Stella is being mothered b
y Penny that maybe she'll grow up to think like a dog instead of a cat. Here's Rae, Stella and me at my house after all of the birthday parties on Saturday.

Tony was busy doing the umpire thing at a big tournament in Jonesboro, so I didn't get to see him for most of the weekend. That made me a little sad but I spent lots of time with the family instead. We had two family birthday parties on Saturday. My little cousin Jordan celebrated his second birthday and my cousin Shelia celebrated her 50th birthday.
Rae was nice enough to snap a photo of me and my dad hanging out on the couch at Aunt JoAnn's. My daddy is down to the smallest he's ever been in my whole lifetime. He weighs 180 lbs and is wearing a size 34 pant. But, for the first time in a long time he is improving. For so many months we went thru phases where things kept getting worse. But something has changed. All those prayers are being answered. Dad's treatments are actually working. The cancer isn't technically going away but it's not growing and that's a really big deal. Dad even feels better. Sometimes he gets really down but lately he's been trying extra hard to eat more and to exercise more. Those size 34 pants are actually getting snug and my mother could not be more thrilled. We know we can't expect him to ever be his old self again. Way too much has happened. But we are so thankful for every day and every little victory in this battle. We are so blessed!
