As I mentioned Monday, Tony's sister Amber went to see a specialist in Little Rock about her baby and the cyst that they noticed last week during her ultrasound. Turns out the Jonesboro doctor was right. There is a problem.
Baby Shell has a serious cyst on his spine that is holding it open and preventing it from forming normally. As soon as he is born he will have surgery and there's only a 20-40% chance that he will be able to walk.
Our hearts are breaking. I wish I had the words to comfort Amber. She's got a long road ahead of her. I just pray that God will give her and Matt strength. And I pray that the doctors will have the knowledge and ability to do the best that they can for our little nephew.
